Greening Bioplastics

BioCor LLC Startup Establishes Bioplastic Recycling Infrastructure

BioCor LLC is a Concord, California-based limited liability company founded to create a bioplastic recycling infrastructure that will allow the company to act as an end user for both post industrial and post consumer PLA plastic waste. BioCor will also be able to market the products it makes from the recycled materials.

Though PLA bioplastics are generally made of material derived from plant starches and can be completely recycled or composted, there is a severe lack of bioplastic recycling infrastructure. BioCor can assist recyclers to separate PLA, number 7 plastics from other plastics and will collaborate on pilot PLA recycle and reuse projects.
Trend Themes
1. Bioplastic Recycling Infrastructure - Establishing a bioplastic recycling infrastructure creates opportunities for companies to act as end users and produce marketable products from recycled materials.
2. Post Industrial Recycling - Developing recycling processes for post industrial PLA plastic waste enables the recycling of materials and reduces waste in manufacturing industries.
3. Pilot PLA Recycle Projects - Collaborating on pilot projects for PLA recycle and reuse drives innovation in the bioplastics industry and encourages sustainable practices.
Industry Implications
1. Plastics Recycling - Creating a bioplastic recycling infrastructure opens up new opportunities in the plastics recycling industry to efficiently separate PLA from other plastics.
2. Manufacturing - Incorporating post industrial recycling processes into manufacturing industries allows for the reuse of PLA plastic waste and promotes sustainable production practices.
3. Sustainable Materials - Advancing pilot PLA recycle projects contributes to the growth of sustainable materials industries by promoting the recycling and reuse of bioplastics.
