In an effort to be eco-friendly, Soma has designed a completely biodegradable water filter.
The beautifully designed glass carafe removes chlorine, heavy metals and other contaminants from water just as any filter would. The difference with this filter is when you're done with it, it can be put into a compose and will break down completely. This is an important feature since a water filter is already an environmental alternative to having cases of bottled water in your home. But what is the point of saving the waste created by bottled water if you're just going to toss out the filter and create garbage anyway?
This biodegradable water filter is made of Malaysian coconut shells, vegan silk and food-based PLA composite. This product is currently looking for development contributions on KickStarter.com.
