Zero-Emissions Hydrogen Trucks

This Big Rig Truck was Retrofitted by Toyota to Run on Hydrogen

The big rig truck is essential for shipping goods of all kinds, but is notorious for being a hog when it comes to using diesel fuel. Toyota has taken this into account by creating a truck that runs off hydrogen to make the only thing it spills out of its tailpipe to be water.

The truck has been titled the 'Project Portal' by Toyota and has been created in collaboration with Toyota Motor North America, the California Energy Commission, the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles and the California Air Resources Board.

The big rig truck gets power from two fuel cell stacks and is capable of generating over 670HP. The driving range of the truck is over 200 miles, which makes it a competitive option for shipping purposes.
