Los Angeles-based company Lumenus is a smart clothing and technology brand that is looking to increase cyclist safety and visibility with this illuminated bicycle jacket.
The 'Lumenus Smart Jacket' features embedded LED lights on its chest, back and cuffs that are all automatically activated and hands-free. The bicycle jacket is actually synced up via Bluetooth to the rider's smartphone and is able to track the rider through GPS.
Using a companion app, the jacket is able to direct the rider where to go by programming a destination into the phone. Lights on the jacket's sleeves will flash to notify the rider which way to turn and also notify fellow motorists of the upcoming turn using lights located on the jacket's back. An accelerometer on the user's phone will likewise cause the jacket's lights to turn red when the rider slows down. The 'Lumenus' is also fully washable, waterproof and can can function for up to 30 hours on a single charge.
