Tilted Sanitary Mugs

The Rim and the Interior of the Bevel Cup Maintain Better Cleanliness

The germophobes among us might be constantly anxious about the unsatisfactory storage of objects like drinking glasses. Thankfully the design of the Bevel Cup aims to improve on the current practice by ensuring that the item stays clean between its wash and its next use.

Zhou Buyi and Gao Fenglin contemplated the pair of problems associated with placing coffee cups either upright or upside-down. The first invites dishwater to pool and dust to collect while the second one dirties the rim with whatever bacteria lies on the countertop or within the cupboard.

The solution is a chamfered handle that's top can support the weight of the Bevel Cup in a balanced manner. The 2012 Red Dot Design Award concept winner can then be faced down with its round edge touching nothing.
