London lifestyle brand Bert & May launched a new project called 'Bert's Box,' in which they offer customizable prefabricated housing. The company uses reclaimed materials to create personalized, made to order housing extensions or stand-alone units.
Reclaimed timber is used to gives spaces structure as well as character. Bert's Box is available in four sizes, and each can be customized to suit the needs of a buyer -- be it a large living space with an office, or multiple bedrooms. Sustainable heating solutions were also a consideration which prompted Bert & May to use double glazed windows and doors and heating that runs underneath the reclaimed tile flooring. The prefab units can be delivered anywhere in the world and installed in the woods, in gardens, on flat roofs and as home extensions.
