Life-Imitating Footwear

The Designs of Benjamin John Hall Depict Birth, Life, Death & Resurrection

The shoe wear collection of Benjamin John Hall aims to imitate a spanning life through its futuristic design.

Hall explains that each piece was inspired by "the processes and experiences that relate to the themes of birth, life, death and resurrection." Consisting of seven designs, this collection caters to both men and women's footwear as it depicts each stage of human life. For instance, the men's 'Birth' shoe is a construction wrapped in foil that is filled with black ink and pierced to reveal the boot inside.

For the death motif, Benjamin John Hall explores the "light at the end of the tunnel' analogy by incorporating soles that flash with illumination. The accompanying film is by Stuart Meldrum and depicts the transformation of each extravagant creation by Benjamin John Hall.
