An installation by creative collective 'Captain Boomer' simulates a real beached whale. Placed on the bank of the River Thames in London, the sculpture looks exactly like a real whale. The team from Captain Boomer used fiberglass to make the gargantuan sculpture. In addition, they enhanced the realism of the installation by hiring actors. Fake professionals were placed on the scene to simulate an actual rescue effort. Experts from the British Divers Marine Association were also present to explain the situation.
The life-sized installation was created for the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival. With the help of Zephyr Wildlife Reconstruction, Captain Boomer created the sculpture to increase environmental awareness. The sculpture is currently on display at the Old Royal Naval College.
