Digital Hotspot Onesies

The BB.Suit Turns its Wearer into a Human WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth Hotspot

The experimental BB.Suit is quite simply the most technologically advanced onesie in the world. This comfy cotton onesie is fitted with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC (near field communication) connections, turning its wearer into a living, breathing access point. It was designed by Dutch fashion designer Borre Akkersdijk, who unveiled the suit at SXSW.

The BB.Suit was knitted using a special 3D technique that allows for the different technological components to be integrated into it. Gaps between the threads leave space for copper wiring that allows the embedded digital components to work.

Akkersdijk says there's a long way to go before the BB.Suit can be mass-produced and sold to the general public, due to technological and design challenges. There are currently only two prototypes of the BB.Suit, but Akkersdijk hopes to eventually work with big technology companies to create a smart clothing platform.
