The Basic House is a tent-like abode that provides an instant shelter in a time of unexpected need. The concept was born out of a consideration for others in a world where the population continues to grow at a scary rate and livable areas become few and far in between.
Designed by Martin Azua, the Basic House is unique from other emergency shelters in that it can be stored in one's pocket or purse when not in use. This feature allows people to move around depending on present circumstances like modern day nomads. Made out of a metallic polyester, the Basic House not only protects against the elements, but also against fickle temperatures by interacting with the sun and the resident's own body heat.
