Bike helmets are often quite bulky and considered unfashionable but a company called Park & Diamond is hoping to change this with the introduction of its baseball cap helmet. Launched recently through an Indiegogo campaign, this new helmet is designed to resemble a baseball cap in aesthetics and comfort, while providing the same level of protection as a traditional cycling helmet.
Designed by engineers from SpaceX, the protective baseball cap helmet utilizes 3D mesh fabrics, EVA cushioning, a polycarbonate shell and patent-pending composite layers for impact absorption. The baseball cap helmet can be easily collapsed down in size for storage and transport when not in use.
Park & Diamond originally hoped to raise $50,000 to get the helmet into production but have already easily raised over $275,000.
