The Barnacle Stool by American designer Robert Brou brings to life what most of us probably don’t think about on a day-to-day basis (or even a year-to-year basis): barnacles. The designer’s parasite-influenced Barnacle Stool was actually created spontaneously, although the designer has much earth-influenced creations under his belt including an oyster chair and a porcupine coffee table.
Brou constructed the Barnacle Stool’s body out of maple lumber, using sanders and grinders to give it a smooth and curving shape which he finished with laminate. The Barnacle stool has eleven dyed-purple Ash legs that are set into slight angles so as to give the impression of movement.
