When a Bang & Olufsen box arrived at our office, most people didn't even notice it. How could they not? It was massive. But a few of us noticed. We knew what it contained, and we couldn't have been more excited.
To give you some context, Trend Hunter is an office filled with music junkies, audiophiles, and concert-goers. Music is a passion that reverberates through the company. So when we got the new B&O PLAY A9 Sound System, a few of us knew Christmas came a bit early this year.
We broke out our smartphones, connected the A9 to our network and began blasting tunes, much to the dismay of our neighbors (sorry about that). We couldn't decide which song to play first. Some wanted to hear Christmas songs, others wanted to play their new-found indie artist of the week, and one dedicated hip hop head only wanted to hear The Notorious BIG.
We eventually compromised on a song we all loved from the past summer, Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, and oh boy, did it ever bang. Things were getting lively in the office, and it was only 10:20am on a Tuesday. We were only a few beats away from an all-out party.
Later in the day, a few us thought it would be fun to prank our colleagues. Since the A9 connects wirelessly, we decided to tuck it away in a corner, only to have it play Rick Astley’s magnum opus ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’…on repeat…for three hours. Some were not amused by the live "rick rolling" while others keeled over. There now is company-wide ban on Rick Astley’s discography.
