Band of Outsiders is honoring the late-great surfing photographer LeRoy Grannis with its latest collection, which features some of his best work. Grannis was a photographer who trained his lens on the burgeoning California surf scene of the 1960s. His work has appeared in magazines and museums across the globe and is now being made into a collection of polos by Band of Outsiders.
I'll freely admit that I didn't know who LeRoy Grannis was until I stumbled across the Band of Outsiders Leroy Grannis polo collection. This collection is awesome because it helps spread the work of a great photographer who captured the American surf scene in its infancy and who otherwise might have gone unknown by people who don't surf. The shirts have a surprisingly high level of quality and are currently being sold by Colette for $380. Nobody ever said art fashion would be cheap.
