As a fashion lover, and particularly a huge fan of French fashion house Balmain, there are few things that bring me more joy than seeing the Balmain Spring 2012 show online. Starring my personal favorite model, Freja Beha Erichsen, as well as several other "it" models of the moment, the show was not as punk-rock chic as Balmain fans may be used to.
Rather than the red leather jackets, ripped t-shirts and safety pins adorning almost everything that made appearances in past seasons, the Balmain Spring 2012 collection was more about adding an edge to basic, all-American pieces.
Creative director Olivier Rousteing (who has taken over for Christophe Decarnin) still maintained the brand's signature gold pieces and bold shoulders, while modernizing the looks with denim and maxi skirts.
