This Bacteriophage Microgel Bead Spray Kills Bacteria on Food

This bacteriophage microgel bead spray has been developed by a team of scientists at the McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario as a solution for eradicating harmful bacteria that could become present on foods.

The spray features microgel beads filled with bacteriophages, which are harmless to humans but will kill and eat harmful bacteria that could come into contact with foods. This would enable the spray to eradicate the harmful bacteria that could be lurking on the surface of foods without having to worry about the effects it would have upon being eaten.

The bacteriophage microgel bead spray builds on previous research and was shown in lab tests to eradicate E. coli bacteria found on tainted lettuce as well as meat within a nine-hour period.
