This Electric Skateboard-Like Contraption Fits in a Backpack

The Movpak, developed by a Brazilian startup of the same name, is claimed to be the world's first ever backpack electric vehicle. It's a skateboard-like device that is suitable for short commutes in urban settings.

The Movpak's electric drive enables it to hit speeds of up to 24 km/h for up to 9 miles at a time before requiring a recharge, which takes a couple of hours. The board measures 60 x 30 cm, weighs 7.7 kg. When in operation, it is steered like a skateboard with the backpack mounted on the rear and acceleration controlled with a wireless controller. When not in use, the Movpak can be stowed into an accompanying backpack.

The developers of Movpak have taken to Kickstarter to try and raise funds for further development, testing and ultimately production of this ingenious electric backpack vehicle.
