Designer Kimmy Ansems created this unique baby bonding device that allows parents and their newborn baby to remain in contact without physically being together. If a baby is born premature and needs to remain in the hospital for a few days, this device will aid the relationship from a remote location.
This baby bonding device called 'Baboo' allows parents to stay connected to their child. While the baby is building strength and increasing their health within an incubator, this device provides real-time progress updates. Baboo looks like a wooden bowl with a flower pattern on top. When an infant is awake, the petals will show which limbs are active using a light sensor.
The device provides real-time feedback and allows parents to feel as though they are physically interacting with their child. This is the "first design to use data visualizations in a 3D object rather than on a screen." The device aims to build the bond between the parent and child regardless of location-based obstacles.
