Naples-based designer Alessandro Di Prisco designs the Babol modular seating system for Italian furniture label Urbo. The seats are constructed exclusively from concrete materials and made in collaboration with Macevi, which is a manufacturer of concrete artifacts. The bench boasts a smooth structure that can be added to one another in an urban space, resulting in a larger seating system. The name of the seats is meant to imitate the word 'bubble' and it also references bubbles through its curvaceous form and softness, which is ironically contrasting to the hard material used for construction.
The Babol is made for outdoor living and can be combined to become a larger unit to suit public parks and pedestrian locations. Four of the pieces placed together forms an island for recreational spaces.
