Fashion house Prada designed the new Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit, which is also known as AzEMU for NASA's Artemis III mission. The house works together with commercial space company Axiom Space and the spacesuits will be made to provide astronauts with "advanced capabilities for space exploration." The design is essentially an evolution of the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit by NASA and depends on progressive technology to push flexibility and protection against the lunar environment.
Marketing director of Prada Group, Lorenzo Bertelli explains "The constantly forward-thinking ethos of Prada for humanity has broadened to his desire of adventure and to brave new horizons: space. We are honored to be a part of this historic mission with Axiom Space. Our decades of experimentation, cutting-edge technology and design know-how – which started back in the 1990s with Luna Rossa challenging for the America's cup – will now be applied to the design of a spacesuit for the Artemis era."
