Biometric Auto Ignitions

This Software Lets Drivers Start a Car With Their Fingerprint

While most auto ignitions are started with a key, this software -- developed by university students in Uganda -- lets drivers start their car with a fingerprint. Though it is not yet in production, this software is said to be available in multiple prototypes, built by eight students from the School of Computing and Informatics Technology at Makerere University and one from the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology.

In addition to providing a biometric security option for drivers -- upon setting up the system, drivers can imput their fingerprint information or the information of those close to them but can erase and update this data at any desired time.

Furthermore, the software will send drivers a message via their mobile device in the case that an unauthorized person attempts to start their car.
