Edible Economic Crisis Sofas

Austerity Edible Furniture is Inspired by the EU's Financial Crisis

Hopefully things in Europe never get to the point where Austerity edible furniture needs to be mass produced. This unique collection was designed by Lanzavecchia + Wai as part of the Padiglione Italia's Foodmade exhibition. Each piece has a simple design and is covered with tasty food.

The black iron base of the furniture is only revealed after its edible covering has been eaten away. Food used includes a sweet hard candy used to make a coffee table, chocolate used to create a sofa and rice cakes that form a tabletop. The Austerity edible furniture is a fun spin on the economic crisis that is currently rocking Europe. Here's hoping things shape up before edible furniture becomes a necessity.
