The Audi Urban Purifier is an air purification technology being developed by the automotive brand to help capture pollution and clean the air within cities in a passive manner.
The air purification technology is designed for use in electric vehicles, and would clean the air when driving and when charging. The system works by being integrated into the front section of the vehicle where it would utilize a filter to trap particulate matter from the surrounding environment. This would drive down the vehicle's contribution to air pollution and that created by other vehicles on the road.
Project Manager in Attachment System Development at AUDI AG Fabian Groh spoke on the Audi Urban Purifier saying, "This particulate filter is an example of our pursuit of innovation for everyone’s benefit and a successful collaboration with specialized suppliers. We are already doing a lot today on our own initiative. We anticipate it will also become a legal requirement in the future."
