Last year a contest was launched by Google and the X Prize foundation to exapnd the exploration of the moon; those who have been following the progress of the impressive entries will be happy to hear that a working prototype of the highly anticipated Audi Rover will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show.
Designed by Part Time Scientists, the Audi Rover has the backing of the German car company, which already gives it a leg up from all the other competition. As for the mission that the winner of $30 million will be sent on, The Verge writes, "The ultimate objective is to travel to the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) left behind by Apollo 17 some 43 years ago." The Audi Rover certainly has a chance to make history yet again.
