Artistic Indian Taxis

This Project Called on Local Artists to Decorate the Taxis of Mumbai

'Taxi Fabric' is an art project that brought together local artists to paint and decorate the taxis of Mumbai. The project was developed by Sanket Avlani who sought to create a more enjoyable passenger experience for Mumbai residents, while also helping showcase the talents of local artists.

The Taxi Fabric project involved five taxi cabs, each of which were each given a dramatic makeover by a local artist. The taxis were reupholstered and the interiors were decorated with beautiful works of art. The designs pay homage to the city of Mumbai and celebrate everything from the dramatic city landscape to the famous dabbawallas who bring lunch to city residents.

The newly decorated taxis of Mumbai have proven to be a massive hit with passengers and they have provided immense exposure for the local artists who designed them.
