Ariel has revealed plans to put the Atom V8 into production in the near future. The exposed frame roadster’s naturally unique design makes it enjoyable to begin with; however, this bad boy moves like nothing I’ve ever heard of.
The addition of the V8 engine means the Atom packs a power-to-weight ratio of 1000hp/tonne (the car has 500hp and weighs 500kg), which is double what the Bugatti Veyron has.
The Russell Savory-designed V8 makes for an earth-shattering 10,000 rpm that is said (in initial testing of a prototype) to produce a 0-60mph sprint in 2.5 seconds (also earth-shattering). Production is rumored to be just 25 models, so I suggest you get moving.
