App-Based AR Walking Directions

Google Maps Has Added Its New Live View to More Devices

Google Maps has added AR walking directions to more devices, with the company stating that the feature will come to Android and iOS devices that are compatible with ARCore or ARKit.

The feature is titled Live View and it shows users exactly how to get to their desired location. Google had a small release of the AR walking directions feature, which was exclusively for Pixel smartphones. Since that release, Google has limited screen time that users can access while walking to address safety concerns.

The new Live View feature is currently available to users of the Google Maps platform. When accessing Google Maps, users can enter a destination, and from there, they can tap the new Live Mode feature.
