Leading artist Anish Kapoor recently created a temporary, site-specific massive monument installation inside the nave of the Grand Palais’ Monumenta glass-domed hall. Created for the 2011 edition of Monumenta, this piece came into fruition as Kapoor was invited to do so by the Grand Palais’ French ministry of culture and communication.
The exceptional architectural space of the Monumenta measures approximately 13,500 square meters. The installation further embodies a four-chamber balloon covered in red light, which aims to evoke cathedral-like qualities.
The UK-based artist's great work can be viewed from now until June 23, 2011 at the Grand Palais in Paris.
