Andrey Grishko, a design student at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, has created a unique process to build furniture. He has manufactured a machine that spins fiberglass threads into modern lamps and stools. An innovative process, to say the least, the concept was born after Andrey Grishko watched numerous YouTube tutorials and 3-D printing blogs for inspirational guidance.
As Andrey Grishko's final school project, the machine is quite impressive. Although spun furniture doesn't seem all that sturdy, the fiberglass threads have been dipped in resin so that when it is hardened, the resulting furniture piece is quite strong. Andrey Grishko reveals, "Digital manufacturing allows us to duplicate the products on the one hand and make small but meaningful changes that will make any product unique on the other."
