Local Australian architectural and design firm Adrian Amore Architects has designed the interiors of a 90s apartment in Melbourne, Australia. The building was formerly used as a butter factory until it was turned into apartments. The home was designed for an investor who wanted to live in a modern yet simple space. The result: the architects removed a steel beam that went across the center of the interiors and replaced the roof to create supplementary rooms.
The main centerpiece of the home is the large white, sculptural staircase that climbs from the ground up through the center of the loft apartment. The staircase was made from steel and was covered with plaster and plywood. "I wanted to dramatize the form of the stair, to give it more movement than a conventional circular stair, almost as though it had been pulled or stretched at its mid point," says Amore of Adrian Amore Architects.
