Samsung SDI, the Korean manufacturer's display division, gives us a sneak peak into their upcoming AMOLED laptop designs with this strikingly stylish 12.1†prototype.
The prototype, which will be showcased for the first time next week at the Society For Information Display (SID) 2008 in LA, features crisp WXGA 1280 x 768 resolution. Samsung SDI has been developing and improving AMOLED technologies that promise more than 20 times higher picture quality with improved performance.
Jeonghogyun, vice president of the Central Research Institute said, “This development is based on eight generations or more of AMOLED technology. It's the future for TV, as well as notebooks. This further strengthened the competitiveness of AMOLED.â€
AMOLED (Active-matrix OLED) displays provide better performance with significantly less power consumption. Also, AMOLED pixels turn on and off more than three times faster than the speed of conventional motion picture film, making them ideal for TVs and notebooks.
