Photographer Alvaro Sanchez-Montanes heard about an amazing phenomenon on Namib where the desert has invaded some of the abandoned houses in the mining town. The photographer went over to see what these houses actually looked like and the extent of the indoor deserts.
Alvaro Sanchez-Montanes found "the beauty in the abandoned, of the useless, of the time passing by." The photographs he took document the occurrences of the surreal.
Implications - It's amazing to see human-made living spaces devoid of life and slowly being integrated back into its natural environments. It makes me think about life in suburban areas and how different it would look if everyone just suddenly disappeared one day and, over time, nature is once again able to flourish.
