ALDI Washing Up Liquid is Now Packaged in rPET Bottles

ALDI washing up liquid has made the shift to 100% recycled plastic packaging in the UK as part of the retailer's initiative to shift away from virgin plastic alternatives.

The packaging update will cover the brand's various dish soap products including its original Magnum washing up liquid, antibacterial and one-liter variants with the labels and caps excluded. The packaging is crafted from 100% rPET material and is expected to save more than 500-tonnes of virgin plastic on an annual basis. The weight of the bottles has also changed to save an additional 106-tonnes of plastic annually.

Plastics and Packaging Director Luke Emery commented on the ALDI washing up liquid packaging update saying, "At Aldi, we know that our customers are becoming increasingly concerned about the environment, and cutting back on plastic usage is just as important to them as it is to us. While the challenge of plastic packaging is significant across the industry, we are committed to minimising our impact wherever we can. Transitioning to recycled materials in our washing up liquid range and lowering the weight of our fabric conditioners are just two examples of our ongoing efforts to do so."
