David Woroner of Survival Consultants International has devised technology that works sort of like airbag armor for cars to protect them against IEDs and roadside bombs.
According to Survival Consultants International, light is the only force faster than the shock waves caused by an explosion. In the case of an IED or roadside bomb, the airbag armor's sensors are triggered, which then check in with an on-board processor. The bags are then deployed to presumably fight the shock of these concussive waves--and the entire process takes place in a split second.
