An Israeli charitable organization is offering children hope by producing an affordable wheelchair for them. Wheelchairs of Hope is designed especially for kids, who would typically have to use chairs created for older people.
According to the non-profit, 65 million people require wheelchairs, but only 20 million have access. 5 million kids are among them, who suffer from a lack of ergonomic and affordable wheelchair design. The Wheelchairs of Hope version is made out of a lightweight plastic that comes in a range of different colors. At a cost point of only $100, the kid-friendly chair is designed for 5 to 9 year-olds and also complies with WHO standards.
Currently the chairs are being produced in Israel, Tajikistan and Palestine. They are working towards the goal of making 1 million wheelchairs in the next 7 years.
