Hanging Coconut Ceilings

The Elegant Aesop Singapore Store is Also Eco-Friendly

The design for the new Aesop Singapore store was conceived by Melbourne architects March Studio. The small but stunning space boasts 30 km of hanging coconut husks strung from the ceiling--creating a full ceiling lighting fixture. Aesop is an Australian skincare brand.

The design for the Aesop Singapore store was inspired by the twine used to tie the company’s gift boxes. While beautiful the design is also sustainable as the coconut husks used are a regional product. The Aesop Singapore store also incorporates other, somber materials such as coir matting for the carpet and marine plywood for the storage unites.
