NISSAN has stated it will be releasing a second edition to its advanced autonomous driving system. The system is the second edition of NISSAN ProPilot, titled ProPilot 2.0. NISSAN will be conducting a test launch in Japan within the year.
The system has a number of different functions that assist drivers. ProPilot 2.0 has an Around View Monitoring function (AVM), which makes use of cameras and a sonar radar that will be alerted if the driver is not attentive enough. The system uses its GPS in order to regulate the driver's speed, as well as self-guiding technology when going on and off highway ramps. Even during self-driving maneuvers, drivers are still required to have their hands on the wheel in case they need to drive the car manually. Following a successful test launch, NISSAN will look to expand its advanced autonomous driving system.
