Eco-friendly footwear brand Allbirds has once again partnered with sportswear giant adidas to launch the ADIZERO x ALLBIRDS 2.94 KG CO2E. The new shoe represents an effort by both brands to make low-carbon sneakers more accessible and affordable for the broader public.
The ADIZERO X ALLBIRDS 2.94 KG CO2E sneakers are made using low-carbon production methods and constructed from a variety of recycled materials. For example, the midsoles of the sneakers are made with 17% plant-based materials, while the uppers consist of 77% recycled polyester; even the shoe's sockliners are made from 46% sugarcane content.
"This project has laid the foundation for the decarbonization goal. All the learnings from this project have subsequently and immediately been incorporated into the creation of further running shoes in order to achieve our footprint reductions more quickly," said Kimia Yaraghchian Product Manager at adidas.
