Designer Adam Ben-Dror has created a wireless version of the classic candlestick phone. The aptly named Cordless Candlestick is designed using a slew of modern technology including a cellphone and a 2.4ghz wireless transceiver.
The Cordless Candlestick has been completely gutted and replaced with the modern technology needed to make it wireless. The result is a phone that looks every bit as old as its exterior but that functions like a modern mobile phone. Calls are answered by lifting the earpiece off the stand and ended by putting it back on. Numbers can be dialed using the rotary wheel at the base of the Cordless Candlestick. Speed dial and redial can also be used by dialing and holding the selected number.
Adam Ben-Dror's Cordless Candlestick is easily the most retro of all of the "retro phones" out there. The project appears to be a one-off, but I wouldn't mind seeing the designer take it a step further. Perhaps the Cordless Candlestick could become the next big smartphone dock?
