A group of students based in Singapore have created an incredible battery-powered electric multicopter, dubbed the 'Snowstorm', that is designed for recreational flying.
This craft is capable of performing fully vertical take-off and landing motions, and is the result of a couple of semesters' work as part of the National University of Singapore's FrogWorks program, which aims to challenge students to construct a flying craft for recreational purposes.
This multicopter is attached to an anodized, hexagonal aluminum frame that is equipped with strong Kevlar ropes and carbon fiber plates. The craft is capable of offering five minutes of flight at a time carrying a 70 kg pilot.
This project shows that inexpensive, recreational flight isn't too far off and can be easily achieved through smart engineering.
