Japanese automaker Nissan has gone ahead and unveiled an innovative new range of car charging stations that are designed to make it possible not just for vehicles to draw energy from the grid, but to also give back by rerouting unused energy from batteries back into the grid.
Currently installed at the facilities of the Nissan Technical Centre Europe center in the UK, these so-called vehicle-to-grid chargers are part of Nissan's broader Intelligent Mobility initiative, which aims to spur eco-friendly and energy-efficient transportation solutions. The facilities were developed as part of a collaboration with energy company Enel.
While these car charging stations aren't available for public use at the time being, there's certainly a lot of promise in their area, and it goes to show that electric vehicles can play an exemplary role in making personal vehicle transportation more energy-efficient.
