New York-based firm GRT Architects has completed the 66 Monitor development project which took a Jersey City mixed-use building and restored it with a special expansion. The new transformation, which is also dubbed as the Starling features 39 residential units along with commercial spaces. There are plenty of parking spaces with the expanded complex along with a large restaurant and small cafe.
GRT Architects speaks about the project, sharing "The rationally laid out facade above contrasts with the irregularity of the existing early 20th century buildings. We stepped the mass of our four-storey addition back in plan and elevation to acknowledge the tripartite facade along Monitor Street, and reduce bulk adjacent to neighbouring buildings of a smaller scale."
