Nokia Successfully Creates a 3GPP Immersive and Audio Service

Nokia officially conducts the world's inaugural immersive voice and audio call which is known as the 3GPP Immersive and Audio Services codec. It ensures that audio quality is optimized for new advancements. This 3D spatial audio call happened in real-time and is a vast difference from the monophonic calls that users experience through traditional cell phone networks.

The progressive technology is able to support biaural and stereo audio to create a realistic sound using two microphones. The call was between the CEO of Nokia, Pekka Lundmark, and a Finnish ambassador. Lundmark notes, "This groundbreaking audio technology takes you to the caller’s environment creating a spatial and massively improved listening experience for voice and video calls."
