Snugburys Ice Cream Farm Rings in Summer with a Handmade Straw Sculpture

Each year, Snugburys Ice Cream Farm celebrates the summer with a fun straw sculpture. For 2010, Snugburys staff settled on a 36-foot meerkat to ring in warm weather. Director Chris Sadler, his wife Cheryl and sculptor Mike Harper have created these straw sculptures since 1998.

Harper created the 36-foot meerkat by first building a steel skeleton, then stuffing it with hay. The Snugburys Ice Cream Farm meerkat is 30 times larger than its living counterpart.
