Neo-Noir Comic Fashion

The 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2012 Line is Inspired by Superheroes

The 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2012 collection is inspired by the neo-noir graphic novels and comic books such as 'Sin City,' 'Superman' and 'V for Vendetta.' Although the influence is very literal in some cases as is the case with the graphic KA-POW sweaters and clutches, the influence is otherwise very subtle.

Filled with contrasting outfits that draw the eye to every inch of the wearer's body, the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2012 collection plays with both light and dark colors. Although there are a lot of strictly monochromatic outfits, Lim has also injected with bright reds, oranges and yellows that are often associated with comics. As the designer puts it, "Everyone wants garments to be superheroes. This 'fill in the blank' should save your day, your week, your year."
