The 2016 Volt, unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, is testament to Chevrolet's commitment to developing eco-friendly electric cars. This vehicle was designed after carefully taking into account feedback from 2015 Volt owners. The end result is a vehicle with an improved plug-in and an all-electric range that is 30% greater than its predecessor.
The vehicle is equipped with a two-motor drive unit and an 18.4-KiloWatt lithium-ion battery. The battery's higher capacity means that it functions with fewer cells, 192 compared to 288 in the previous vehicle. The drive motors offer 149 horsepower and 294 pounds-feet of torque.
The 2016 Volt is set to go on sale in the second half of 2015. Chevrolet hasn't yet announced how the pricing will compare to that of the 2015 Volt, which started at around $35,000.
