A production-ready model of the 2014 BMW i8 was revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show this week. The second ‘i’ model vehicle now boasts an incredibly light carbon fiber construction and is a plug-in hybrid that runs on lithium-ion batteries.
Under the hood, we can expect a lot from this high-end supercar including a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, boosted with electric motor. The standard engine output is a 231 HP (170 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm), sending power directly to the rear axle through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The electric motor adds an extra kick to the front wheels with 131 HP (96 kW). There is enough torque to fly 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
Besides incredible power, the vehicle offers a 2+2 seating arrangement and premium leather interior, alongside many additional extras including mobility services, battery monitors and rear view cameras.
Best of all, the car is eco-friendly. Reduce your ecological footprint and cruise in ultimate luxury when this model drops later this year.
