If you've ever been out to coffee with a friend and had your phone die, the new Starbucks wireless charging mats will appeal to you. The coffee chain recently announced they will be teaming up with Duracell Powermat to roll out wireless charging mats on a national scale, starting with the San Francisco Bay area.

Customers will be able to place their smartphones on compatible 'Powermat Spots' to wirelessly charge their devices for free. A few stations already exist in Boston and San Jose where people are charging phones and grabbing coffee. An updated list of where the wireless charging mats will be available next can be found online. Other promising markets outside the United States can expect to see this free phone-charging feature in Starbucks stores in 2015.
