David Thulstrup Transforms a Warehouse into the Strandgade

Danish designer David Thulstrup has taken on a renovation project which transforms the 218-year-old warehouse along the canal into the Strandgade set of apartments. It is located in Copenhagen and it is comprised of four buildings defined as a 'quiet luxury.' The designer brought focus to the natural material palette during the renovation process to preserve the heritage of the site.
Thulstrup shares with Dezeen, "The quality of the original beam structures was so high that they were preserved – decades of paint was removed with soap to reveal the beautiful wood underneath. I wanted to reveal the beauty of it all, using a small palette of original materials out of respect for the building, such as rendered walls, simple pine planks and Finnish stone. Everything relates to the historical building."
