New Orleans architecture firm Trahan Achitects has finished the Performance pavilion which is made from weathering steel materials and rooted securely by two ground points. Due to the anchor point, it makes the structure look lighter than it is. The pavilion is found at the middle of a large lawn at the Luther George Park in Springdale, Arkansas and it was designed in collaboration with Spackman Mossop Michaels.
The team speaks about the design structure, stating "Together, the two surfaces achieve an impressive 150-foot span with only two connections to the ground – making the structure appear weightless." The steel cladding was selected due to its weathering process over time. "The raw steel will patina with time to reveal the nuances of the environmental conditions amplified by the torquing geometry – taking on a rich and earthy finish."
